I love to become involved in creating things by hand when I'm home. I now have more time to devote to cooking, sewing, and hobbies since I'm retired. When my children were young, I made homemade soap the 'old fashioned' way with lard and lye. Several years ago, I started looking for some recipes online so I could start making it again. I discovered YouTube! The rest is history!! :) I read up on the healthful benefits of making handcrafted soaps with natural oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, & palm oil. I created my own lovely soap recipe that is lusciously rich with naturally occurring glycerin and lather. My first Etsy shop, Sonoran Scents came about and did very well. I needed to put this shop on hold after a very busy & successful venture when I began having some health problems. Now that I'm reopening my shop, I decided to give it a 'make-over'. Many of my customers had expressed an interest in healthy, natural soaps. Serenity Mountain Soaps came about, using the exact soap recipe I used in my Sonoran Scents shop but without customization. We live in beautiful Idaho so the name change reflects that. The emphasis of Serenity Mountain Soaps is health & nature. The greatest satisfaction of all is knowing that my finished products are going to benefit the health of your skin which is your body's largest organ!
